About Dr. Philip Tan-Gatue

Dr. Philip Tan-Gatue, physician, Certified Acupuncturist, Certified Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Dr. Philip Tan-Gatue graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2002. After that, inspired by Giovanni Maciocia, he took up studies at the International Acupuncture Training Center of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he completed Basic and Advanced Acupuncture Certificate Courses.

He returned to China five years later to study Basic Herbal Medicine in Beijing.

Since then, he has also continued further studies at SMIC Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Philippines, while also serving as an instructor, teaching subjects as varied as Herbology, Diagnostics, History and Philosophy, Anatomy, Medical Terminology, Shang Han Lun and Huangdi Neijing studies.

Philip Tan-Gatue is Head of the Section of Herbology of the Chinese General Hospital Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Manila.

He also lectures at the University of the Philippines, the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center Colleges, the Philippine Qihuang Traditional Chinese Medicine Institute, where he also serves as Faculty Dean.

In addition, he is a member of the Philippine Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association, a founding member of the Philippine Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians, and recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc.

He also serves as a member of the National Certification Committee on Traditional Chinese Medicine under the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Healthcare, a government owned and controlled corporation mandated by Republic Act 8423 or the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Law of 1997.
